Due to a time crunch I didn’t have time to get snarky on everything that's hitting theaters this week, so you are getting one movie.  Fortunately though, it’s the flick I think you should most certainly see this week.

Next time around will be back to normal.  Promise.

As always, thanks for reading.

Hitting Theaters This Weekend:

STATE OF PLAY

Director: Kevin Macdonald

Cast: Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams

Summary: A rising political star (Ben Affleck) is thrust in to the spotlight when his mistress/assistant is murdered.  Two reporters (Russell Crowe and Rachel McAdams) dig in to the story to try and uncover the truth

Thoughts:  Every since I was absolutely blown away by Alan Pakula's All The President's Men I've been a bit of a perv when it comes to newspaper thrillers.  The type that pit savvy reporters against corruption and grist in a world gone terribly awry.  Or something.  I love this cast (c'mon can we all forgive Ben Affleck finally?) and the idea of Helen Mirren playing evil stirs my tenderloins.  I suspect pointed orchestral strikes and a lot of fast moving camera work, and even more Russell Crowe's mug scrunched in to a ball of thought.  Have fun.
