Today's Quick Mention:  Remember, you should have ZERO plans for tomorrow so that you can dedicate your entire Saturday to supporting the glorious Record Store Day.  I'll be at Waterloo, End Of An Ear and, if time allows, a few of the others in town.  I expect awesomeness.

Leah has done a great job of schooling you fine people on what hip hop you should be listening to, but today I'm going to step all over her feet and pretend as if she doesn't exist so that I can ramble about one of my favorite artists from the genre, Doom.  As you may already know, he went off the grid for awhile, but he's back now with a new LP titled Born Like This, and it's a good one.  Enjoy.

:Doom - Gazzillion Ear:  For me, Doom is like the Why? of straight up hip hop.  His lyrics don't necessarily attack you with an onslaught of poignant criticisms (you won't want to riot, that's for sure) as much as they force you to quickly conjure a bizarre collage of images.  Does it always make sense?  Of course not.  But that's not really the point; you're just suppose to listen and see what mini-lyrical gems appeal to you.  Now grab some headphones and get to discovering!
