I don't know what it is, but something about being in this city by the bay has unleashed my "give me music" scent as the hounds of PR have been hot on my tail.  This is a good thing for both myself and you, my loyal readers, as I've got a bevy of delicious tunes to drop in to your salad bowl.

Grab a fork, brunch is served.

THE GOOD

Who/What: Vampire Hands - Safe Word
Where'd I Find It: Lord knows.  My new inbox is stuffed to the brim with music and I'm barely keeping afloat.

Why Do I Like It: This is what has been filling my psych rock needs these last few weeks.  This is Black Angels via Sleepy Sun tinged with a bit of goth.  I haven't been able to explain my reasoning behind the goth bit yet, but I'm sure, down right positive even, that I hear something that evokes painted white faces and leather jackets in this music.  Fault me if I'm wrong.

Who/What: Thee Oh Sees - Ruby Go Home
Where'd I Find It: Thee Oh Sees, in their current incarnation are one of my favorite bands currently bending genres.  Thus, when word of a new album hit the interwebs, I coughed awkwardly and then immediately set out to find myself a copy.  Mission accomplished.

Why Do I Like It: John Dwyer, supposed asshole that he is, is quite the fucking musician and Thee Oh Sees blend garage and surf and distortion in a way that makes my hair stand on end.  Ruby Go Home is classic Thee Oh Sees, sort of fast and wonky and melodic all at the same time, and for some reason it makes me think of a bespectacled Dwyer awash in pink light.  This was either a memory or the fading remnants of a bad drug trip.

Who/What: Foreign Born - Vacationing People
Where'd I Find It: Good Man Abe of Secretly Canadian passed this along as well as the knowledge that he's an absolutely baseball fanatic.  See the music industry is full of real people.  Also, John shared this way back.

Why Do I Like It:  I almost want to say something along the lines of "this is the most I've liked a straight up rock 'n' roll track in a long time", but I'd be lying to you beautiful people, and I just won't do that.  This is horn-laced couch rock with shimmering harmonies and quite possibly the usage of a salsa block.  Everyone loves a salsa block, that's a proven fact.

THE MISUNDERSTOOD

Who/What:  Tronics - Shark Fucks

Why Everyone Should Be Listening To It:  My beautiful girlfriend Alex, graced with a music taste as good as any I've encountered, turned me on to this Messthetics compilation from a while back and this song in particular.  I have no idea who Tronics are or what the hell a shark fuck is, but this little throwback is a gem.
