Today's Quick Mention:  After two straight first place finishes, we finally got our asses firmly handed to us last night at trivia.  Ok, it wasn't necessarily that bad, but it was a rough time.  Here's hoping that we're able to reclaim the trophy next Wednesday.

When I saw that a new Conor Oberst song had hit the web I figured that's what I would rambling about today, but it wasn't great and what I actually ended up being unable to escape was the latest taste from the upcoming Akron/Family LP - a record I hadn't really given much thought.  Set Em' Wild, Set Em' Free is due out on Dead Oceans in about a month.  Enjoy.

:Akron Family - River:  The song that instantly comes to mind when I think of this act is Ed Is A Portal (presented crazily in video form below), which is essentially an eight-minute folk anthem of epic proportions.  This is not that.  Sort of.  The part that makes you want to sing-a-long still exists, but it's surprisingly refined and accessible.  If this act has just weirded you out in the past then you should certainly give them a chance now.
