Today's Quick Mention:  If you have a blog and would like to swap links then shoot me an email.  I'm trying to further expand my blogroll.  On a related note, if any of you use Delicious/Hype Machine/Twitter then I'd really appreciate it if you'd add the site.  Thanks.

Here's an EP to make your Monday better.  Enjoy.

:Fischerspooner - Supply And Demand:  To be honest, this is an act that I've been waiting to like for a number of years.  Why is that, you ask?  Because for a long time they've hinted at a sound that's OK with being dance pop and not house/rave music.  This, while not exactly what I'm seeking from them, is closer (imagine a lighter version of the Faint), and over the last couple of days I've found myself revisiting it often.  Entertainment might end up being a keeper.  It's due May 4.

:The Naked Hearts - Call Me:  2009 hasn't exactly delivered a ton of bands that carry the sloppy and simplistic (some would also say grunge, I suppose) sound that defined early to mid-90s indie rock, so it really pleases me to finally have some good stuff via this Brooklyn duo.  They've only been together about a year, so I think the These Knees EP is just the beginning of something pretty damn good.  Get it digitally or on vinyl at this very moment.

:Drummer - Diamonds To Shake:  While Dan Auerbach released a solid solo effort, I still felt it sounded a bit too much like what he does in the Black Keys.  So, of course, this means I have to give the other half of BK, drummer Patrick Carney, all the credit in the world for picking up bass and being a part of something that is so very different (despite the project's name) than his usual gig.  Expect to pleasantly surprised by this act's wall of inspired noise.  The debut will be out sometime later this year on Audio Eagle.

:Paper Moon - What Are You Going To Do With Me:  Admittedly, I can imagine this song playing throughout a montage in a teen movie (you know exactly the spot, it comes right after the climatic couple crumble), but at the same time that's what I like most about it.  In other words, after you hit play you'll probably find yourself cuddled up on the couch and feeling cute.  Only During Thunderstorms hits store shelves tomorrow.  Disguise yourself and then seek it out.

:Ice Palace - Thoughts Facts:  "You are always in my head/Taking up the precious space"  Here's a Minneapolis-based act that's signed to the Cloud Cult-owned Earthology Records.  If you liked the aforementioned Naked Hearts' take on early to mid-90s rock then you can expect to appreciate this band, which sounds like that genre did as the new millennium rolled around.  Small world, right?  Anyhow, Wonder Subtly Crushing Us is due out in a couple of weeks.
