- Throw Me The Statue - Emo's (Inside) - Austin, TX -

The Lovely Sparrows

To be honest, last night's show was not the greatest Lovely Sparrows performance ever.  They were clearly adjusting to being a three-piece (this is a recent change from having six musicians), the guy mixing the sound didn't seem to know that the band isn't one that you turn to 11 and there was an instrument malfunction that caused them to have to alter the set list on the fly.  Bummer.

I think they'll get the kinks all worked out though, and when they do you should watch out, because then they'll be dangerously good.  Now go pick up Bury The Cynics as soon as possible, and be sure not to miss them at Pop Montreal.

Throw Me The Statue

I really have to give this Seattle act some credit.  The crowd wasn't huge at Emo's (after all, it was a Tuesday), so they could have easily turned in an OK performance that would have left everyone feeling solid.  Instead, they put forth all kinds of great effort, and I thought it resulted in a stellar set that had the people in attendance ready to spend the rest of the night singing and dancing.

I can't wait to see them again, and this is coming from someone who just saw them at Bumbershoot two weeks ago.  What can I say?  I'm hooked.  Forever.

PS - I'll have a new song from them in the next podcast.
