If you're out and about tonight
then I think that it would be in your best interest if you dropped by Emo's
for a little show that will be featuring the Lovely Sparrows and Throw Me
The Statue. The former has put out one of my favorite records this
year in Bury The Cynics, and the latter completely thrilled me at
Bumbershoot. You have to be there! Or else you'll regret it
forever. Anyhow, it would appear that while I was on vacation the
always amazing Nicole Atkins released a little EP that's only available on
iTunes. It has a few cover songs from the Church (this is the one that
I'm sharing), Nada Surf, the Doors and Mama Cass Elliot, and it is certainly
something that you should download immediately. Enjoy.

Atkins - Under The Milky Way (The Church Cover):
"I wish I knew what you were looking for." Aside from
that special kind of vibe that only the 80s were ever able
to create, this really isn't all that different than what
the Church did all those years ago. Sure, it's got a
more modern sound and it features Nicole and that sultry
voice of hers being as fantastic as usual, but at the end of
the day a moody track is what it is. Be sure to grab a
good pair of headphones before you listen!
Below is the
Church's original version of Under The Milky Way set
to a video made by a fan, and underneath that is Nicole
performing the gem that is The Way It Is on
Letterman. I highly recommend watching both.
