It's bad enough that the
Cowboys are playing rather terrible, but now they've gone off and shelved
Tony Romo for an uncertain amount of time. What a complete bummer,
especially since I'm going to see Dallas take on the Buccaneers on
Sunday! In any case, having caught a screening of Charlie Kaufman's
directorial debut, Synecdoche, New York, I came home feeling the need
to appreciate some material that went with a sort of narrative more so than
just lyrics strung together. And what did I find? Shrag. I
don't really know much about them except that they have a new self titled
album due out next year on Wiaiwya, but who needs extra information
anyways, right!? Just get on with putting those ears to good use.
Enjoy.

- Forty Five 45s:
With a plotline that feels as if it was pulled from the same
cloth that High Fidelity came from, this song isn't
exactly a ray of sunshine that's going to lighten up your
day. However, I will say that the band's decision to
go with a minimal arrangement really helps add a touch of
light-hearted playfulness to the drool, vindictive nature of
the songwriting. Now if only I could figure out
whether or not I want more surprisingly catchy moments of
bitter reflection in my life.
This video for
Talk To The Left is pretty much a poor man's version
of something Ok Go would do, but it works well enough.
I say at least listen to the song.
