Good news! Noah and John
Michael's recent weekend absences (due mainly to time constraints on
everyone's end) will now stop with a plan that will see the two best guest
writers in the world alternating Sundays. Sure, that means to get your
fill of one of the other you'll have to wait two weeks, but we think that'll
just make it all the more satisfying. Plus, this means I don't have to
fire and hire anyone. Yeah! In other news, I've had a lot of
Jenny Lewis on the brain since I saw her open for Conor Oberst at La Zona
Rose last weekend. In fact, she's been rattling around in my head
enough to inspire me to check out an act that's she been championing
recently, the Whispertown 2000. Expect to see their new record,
Swim, talked about a lot when it's released October 21. Enjoy.
:The
Whispertown 2000 - Done With Love:
Just in case you were wondering, this group isn't just
another version of Jenny Lewis' solo work. That
material relies heavily on the Rilo Kiley star to be as
compelling as can be with her voice and wit more so than
anything else. This act does well in avoiding that
pitfall by balancing and matching up each part of their
sound, which you'll understand better when you give this gem
a listen and notice that it's drenched with blues straight
from the first line all the way through to the guitar
squiggles that fade out as the song ends. Good luck
taking this off repeat.
I was tempted
to post the video of the bassist in the band talking on his
cell phone in the middle of a song, but then I found this
nifty piece made for Living In A Dream. It's
totally better. Sort of.
