For the week of news that I missed I didn't go super in-depth, but I think I got all of the important stuff that happened and added it to the good bits from the last seven days.  Let me know if you think I didn't mention something interesting.  Read on.

- The Rundown -

Brett Ratner has surfaced with comments saying that he is not directing Conan and that his focus right now is on getting Beverly Hills Cop 4 greenlit.

Samuel L. Jackson and Jim Caviezel have signed on to appear in Blown, which is about an MI5 operative trying to stop a terrorist attack from happening.

Ridley Scott is not only producing Monopoly The Movie, but directing it as well.

Michael Moore recently let it be known that his next documentary will deal with the global economic crisis.

Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith, will play the feature role in the grossly unnecessary Karate Kid remake.

Speaking of Will Smith, it would appear that he and Steven Spielberg intend on destroying another classic with their hope to remake Oldboy.  This better fall through just like Justin Lin's efforts did a couple of years ago.

It looks as if Joe Johnston will follow up Wolfman with The First Avenger: Captain America for Marvel.

Jack Black will play the title role in Gulliver's Travels.

Danny Boyle has let it be known that he is interested in directing 28 Months Later.

Some are thinking that McG may be in line to direct Wonder Woman.

The Expendables will apparently feature Jason Stratham, Jet Li and Sylvester Stallone - who will also direct.  The flick, which has a very 80s vibe, is said to follow a bunch of mercenaries trying to being down one of those pesky South American dictators.

Marc Forster has let it be known that he cut the original ending of Quantum Of Solace.  My guess is that it will one day show up as a DVD feature.

Max Allen Collins is directing and writing two sequels to the Road To Perdition.  The two films will be called Road To Purgatory and Road To Paradise and they will both tell the story of Tom Hanks' character's son, Michael Sullivan Jr., from the original.

On another Forster note, he is all set to direct the post-apocalyptic zombie actioneer World War Z.

Russell Brand is said to be close to joining the cast of Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 as Jack Sparrow's brother.

The Farrelly Brothers are finally going to make their Three Stooges flick.  It's setup over at MGM.

Before he gets in too deep with Gears Of War it seems as if Len Wiseman may do a movie called Motorcade, which is about a bunch of terrorists trying to hijack the presidential motorcade.

Steve Carell has replaced Sacha Baron Cohen in Jay Roach's Dinner For Schmucks.  It's supposedly about a dinner in which attendees are challenged to bring the most obnoxious guest possible.

The guy who is in everything and nothing, Sam Worthington, has agreed to join Helen Mirren in Debt, which is about two people hunting a Nazi war criminal.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will be teaming up again in Paul.  The film is said to follow a couple of guys who meet an alien as they road trip from Comic-Con to Area 51.  And no, Edgar Wright is not directing.

Twilight isn't even out yet, but Summit Entertainment has already optioned the books to base further sequels on.

Francis Lawrence has signed on to direct the true story of the riots and siege of the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary in 1987.  Now word yet on a title.

Rumor has it that Terrence Malick may be developing an adaptation of the famous poem Sir Gawain And The Green Knight.

Martin Campbell will direct Nagasaki Deadline, which is about an FBI agent who must solve a bunch of puzzles to avoid a terrorist attack. Is is just me, or does every "original" movie these days uses this plotline?
