Today was suppose to see all of this past weekend's canceled content posted up all at once, but about 23 minutes ago I decided that was a bit too bizarre.  So, what will happen instead is that this weekend will see a double packed podcast, two weeks worth of film news and columns from John Michael and Noah.  I hope you have no plans.

As for what will actually be in the spotlight today (and maybe tomorrow since I suddenly seem to be very far behind), it's an EP!  Enjoy.

:Ben Sollee - Only A Song:  "This is only a song/It can't change the world."  Despite loads of people making tons of tunes that comment about the election and/or the current state of our country, I've avoided posting any of it.  Until now, and I'm honestly only putting this out there because Ben's songwriting here feels as genuine as anything, political or not, that I've heard in all of 2008.  There's a full length coming out soon, but for now you can pick up the Something Worth Keeping EP.

:The Secret Dakota Ring - Fade To Black:  I don't think I really expected anything good to ever again come associated with the name OK GO (seriously, how will they ever follow up last year's video craziness?), but singer/guitarist Andy Ross has branched out on his own and created something really charming with this nicely named project.  The album Cantarell, which is actually Ross's second effort under the moniker, is out today via Serious Business Records.

:The Eastern Sea - This Is Holborn:  On Friday, before Fun Fun Fun Fest got underway, I spent some time at the Mohawk checking out the Austinist's Local Music Is Sexy, and one of the acts that impressed was the Eastern Sea.  Over the course of their set that night I thought their sound carried a quasi-Death Cab For Cutie kind of vibe, but now that I've listened to the recorded stuff I realize it's more delicate and, as my friends over at Austin Sound said when they featured them, similar to Iron And Wine.  Obviously, both are good sounds, so pick up their recently released self titled EP and watch out for a show near you.

:Jihae - Best Thing:  If you're a regular visitor of the site then you already know that I've been on the Jihae-bandwagon for quite a while.  I mean, how could I not?  She's probably the only artist I know that has steadily been making music that I can actually label as entrancing.  Do not miss out on the chance to hear this with a good pair of headphones!  Her new full length, Elvis Is Still Alive, is set to hit store shelves today on Septem.  You should seriously consider seeking it out.

:Little Joy - Brand New Start:  Here's an act that has definitely benefited from having been started by a member of the Strokes (drummer Fabrizio Moretti), but probably would have gotten some notoriety anyway since the songs are so damn snazzy.  Sure, this is essentially a very breezy version of what you heard his old band do in year's past, so it's not like he's doing anything he isn't already good at, but I personally think you can never have enough stellar pop music.  Their self titled debut was released by Rough Trade last week.
