As many of you crazy local kids already know, this weekend is all about Fun Fun Fun Fest, which will surely be more fun than it's own name indicates.  By the way, I wouldn't count on getting a podcast tomorrow, but I do think I'll be able to get the film news rundown together on Sunday (if not then I'll post it Monday).  Hit me up if you're going to be down at Waterloo Park!  Now, I say we have a dash of slinky fun with MIA.  The loved-by-everyone (come on, you know you do) artist has put together and released a digital only EP by the name of How Many Votes Fix Mix.  I haven't heard it all yet, but the song below is definitely less forward than all of Kala, which means you can listen and not feel an overwhelming need to riot.  Enjoy.

:MIA - Shells:  As was the case with Metric yesterday, you know what to expect here.  I will say this though, right after Arular come out a good friend of mine and I had many discussions about whether or not MIA would have any sort of staying power.  Not that we didn't absolutely love her then.  We did.  It was just that at the time her sound felt like a gimmick, something that people would move on from just as quickly as the fell in love with.  Or, however unlikely, someone would come along, do it better and steal all the spotlight.  Boy, where we ever wrong to doubt her.  Sort of makes you wonder about all the acts that are the complete opposite of her in that they hit the scene with a unique sound and then could never put together the crucial follow-up efforts.

How come no one bothered to tell me there was a video made for Jimmy?  That song is easily one of my favorite off of Kala.  Watch this if you haven't already!
