I'm not sure if all of you good
people are fully aware of We Are Free Records yet, but I think you certainly
need to be. They've already put out one fantastic record in Yeasayer's
All Hour Cymbals and now they're getting ready to release sure-to-be
winners from Indian Jewelry and Ponytail. Now, I've already covered
the former over at Austin Sound (you can check out that fine piece of work
right here),
so that means that today is all about the latter. Ice Cream
Spiritual is the name of Ponytail's new record and judging from the song
below it sounds as if they've taken their slightly bizarre sound to a level
that their debut never dreamed of. Or something. Let's just say
that come June 17 your brain better be ready. Enjoy.

- Celebrate The Body Electric (It Came From An Angel):
If you've ever heard anything from this band then you should
know that lyrics aren't as much of a concern as is the
onslaught of frantic guitars and quick bursts of chaotic
drumming. Personally, I think it's great, but I'm also
aware that it isn't going to be for those of you who prefer
to be able to sing-a-long and/or dance softly in your living
room. Although, maybe primitive hump day music is
exactly what the less adventurous of you need today. I
say give it a listen and see what happens.
This is the
band doing the song above at some venue called Ottobar.
I can't say that it's the most wildly entertaining thing
I've ever seen, but hearing the band pull off their huge
sound is a treat. At least watch it once.
