Before I get to Tall Firs I want to say that you most definitely need to get the new Mates Of State album, Re-Arrange Us, when it hits store shelves this week.  I spent the whole weekend pouring over it and there wasn't a single song that I didn't like.  It's good stuff.  Ignore Pitchfork.  Now, onto the aforementioned artist!  Their album, Too Old To Die Young, came out earlier in the year, but it wasn't until late last week that I found out about it.  Since then though, I have to say that I've been revisiting it quite frequently and wondering why more people haven't been rambling on about it.  After all, they are on Ecstatic Peace (Be Your Own Pet, Free Kitten) and their record has a wide range of pop sounds.  What more does it need to get some love!?  I say nothing.  Enjoy.

:Tall Firs - Hairdo:  Even though on a number of levels this is essentially one moody number, it still manages to emit a lot of warmth.  In part I suppose it's because of clever lyrics like "You've got it banging, sister," but it might just be the well crafted pop sensibilities that shoot out from the rest of the sounds that make up the song.  If this particular Monday is about to make your head explode then I think it's highly possible that this gem just might make your day.

Here's a little something that was put up on Youtube about a year ago.  It's suppose to have been shot and recorded by some professionals, but I think it's a little dark and the sound is low.  Still, it's worth a view or two.
