First
of all, sorry for not getting that my recommended
summer movies up before this weekend. I really
wanted to share them before Iron Man kicked
things off, but with me working so much lately I
just couldn't get around to it. Hopefully I'll
have it up before next weekend.
Alright, let's get on with what's worth knowing from
this past week. Read on.

The Rundown -
With
Iron Man already on the fast track to taking in a
ton of cash it shouldn't come as a surprise that the
production for a sequel is already underway.
Paramount will supposedly greenlight the follow-up soon
with a release date set somewhere in 2010.
Peter Jackson has reportedly halted filming The
Lovely Bones until he and his art director can agree
on what Heaven should like in the movie.
New Line has snatched up the rights to Dan Mintner:
Badass For Hire. The film, which is suppose to
pay homage to those great action films from the 80s, is
said to deal with a highly decorated soldier on a quest
to save his mentor.
Rick Yune has become the latest to join the Wachowski-produced
Ninja Assassin. The story is centered
around a man who decides to abandon the traditions of
the ninja farm that raised him so that he can pursue a
life in the modern world. Yune will play the ninja
that has a problem with such actions.
Mel Gibson is all set to star in a film called Edge
Of Darkness. The Martin Campbell-directed
effort will follow an investigator trying to solve the
mystery surrounding the death of this daughter.
Brandon
Routh recently noted that he expects to start working on
a Superman sequel with Bryan Singer at some point
next year.
It seems almost too good to believe, but Jonah Hill has
reportedly signed on to star next to Shia LaBeouf in
Transformers 2. He is suppose to play Chuck,
Sam Witwicky's conspiracy-slinging college roommate.
Hugh Jackman is already trying to generate an
overwhelmingly amount of buzz for the upcoming X-Men
Origins: Wolverine. He says that based on his
feelings for this one he could do 11 or 12 more.
Toni Collette has been replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal in
the upcoming Sam Mendes flick. The romantic
comedy, which is currently untitled, will star John
Krasinski and Maya Rudolph as a couple traveling around
the country trying to find a place to settle down.
Demetri Martin is currently in negotiations for the lead
role in Ang Lee's Woodstock. As reported
last week, the film is based on the memoirs of the guy
who inadvertently helped the famous festival happen.
Steven Soderbergh's next film with be titled The
Girlfriend Experience, and it will center around
$10,000-a-night call-girls and their relationships with
clients.
Javier Bardem has dropped out of the Nine because
of exhaustion. No word yet on who will replace him
in the Rob Marshall-directed adaptation of the stage
show.
