I was curious as to when
Annuals would share a little something from their new split-EP, and they
finally did it yesterday by way of Pitchfork. For those of you that
don't know, the Raleigh-based group is putting out a little effort with a
band called Sunfold. Only, that act is actually Annuals, but with
guitarist Kenny Florence taking over for Adam Baker as the main brain.
A little weird, sure, but it's new music and at the end of the day that's
all that matters. Or something. Anyhow, Wet Zoo is due
out on April 1 via Canvasback, and supposedly it is a precursor to what will
be a new full length sometime later this year. Personally, I'm
thinking that I wouldn't mind them to forever put out EPs, but I'll take
whatever they'll give me. Enjoy.

- Sore:
I'm rather surprised at how this sounds. Just about
everything they've done up to this point has had a sort of
spastic, raw energy at its core, but this is crisp, well
crafted and borderline epic. I mean, I had to listen
to it four times before I could really fathom that the group
had managed to make such a substantial leap in just about
every aspect of their sound. Impressive would be an
understatement.
For every
official video on Youtube there always seems to be one that
isn't and is just as good, and this piece is a good example
of that. It's Fair from Be He Me, and it
was directed by Bill Risen. Check it out a couple of
times.
