Even though I can't claim my
car being broken into as something to be joyful about, I can say that for
the return of my Xbox 360. The console quit working right before SXSW,
and without an outlet to annihilate digital characters I almost went mad.
Jump to the contact page, jot down my gamertag and then join me online for a
few destruction catch-up sessions! Actually, before you do such a
thing make sure you give Culture Reject a listen. I got an email
yesterday from White Whale Records that informed me of the Michael
O'Connell-centric project and its new self titled album (Due out April 15)
that features an assortment of contributors from the likes of Jim Guthrie
(Islands) to Bernardo Padron (Venezulan/Canadian saxophone player).
Variety is good. Enjoy.

Reject - Inside The Cinema:
One of my favorite records of all time is Modest Mouse's
The Moon And Antarctica. Now, I'm not about to say
that this is on the same brilliant level as that album, but
with its quiet, detail-oriented arrangements and the way
that Michael voices his attention grabbing lyrics there is
enough to fondly remind me of gems like 3rd Planet
and Gravity Rides Everything. I want more.
Here is Michael
doing a song called Museums at what appears to be a
very tiny venue. The way that the piece is framed and
shot in black and white sort of makes it a little creepy,
but because the performance is stellar I'm guessing you
probably won't mind.
