Well, I'm pretty much convinced that waking up feeling sluggish and unable to breathe is the worst thing in the world.  Why must I be cursed with such a blasted hindrance!?  At any rate, when you don't want to get involved with much more than lounging around it does provide an opportunity to get caught up on all of the music that's been piling up on the desk and in the inbox.  Granted, that doesn't mean I would have never gotten to We Were The States, but I will say it helped accelerate things a bit.  The Murfreesboro-based act is on Chicken Ranch Records, which is one of my favorite local labels, and they've readied a snazzy new record titled Believe The Thieves.  I'm not in much of a position to jump around, so feel free to rock a little harder to make up for it.  Enjoy.

:We Were The States - Up Your Sleeve:  To be honest, there isn't necessarily a whole lot here that's going to strike you as new or original.   Fortunately though, it doesn't matter since right from the beginning this gem immediately uses its streamlined, garage rock-enthused, pop-sensible prowess to impress and stick in your head for an overly long period of time.  I'm guessing you'll be OK with that.

I probably would have went the way of pure excitement through live shots and crazy crowds if I had made a video for Up Your Sleeve, but having the band and some pretty people involved in an actual semi-plot is good enough.
