Do you know what I hate?  Those terrible Geico commercials that feature the once-funny cavemen talking about dancing.  They seem to come on all the time, and I want them to stop.  Forever.  On an actually note of hilarity, the Alamo Drafthouse has turned me on to these guys, who are brilliant.  Who's with me!?  Now, with that bit of whatever off my chest, I can move right along to the apple of my eye today, the Broken West.  The Los Angeles-based act has put together a sophomore full length that I think all of you pop-loving kids will find delightful in ways that the stiffs of the world could only hope to understand.  Now Or Heaven will be out on store shelves everywhere on September 9 via the always good Merge Records.  Enjoy.

:The Broken West - Perfect Games:  I don't know how much you remember about their last record, I Can't Go On, I'll Go On, but it probably doesn't matter since this catchy number doesn't show much of an evolution sound-wise.  Fortunately, that's actually a good thing.  These guys simply make power-pop, and I think any sort of alterations would more than likely throw off their fine tuned balance of jangly guitars and hook-filled melodies.  No need to fix what isn't even close to being broken, right?

I really wish that this TV performance of the guys doing the gem that is Down In The Valley was recorded a lot louder, but it's better the other fan-videos on Youtube.  Just crank up the speakers a bit when you watch this.
