Hey!  How was everyone's weekend?  Mine was full of work that gave me a newfound hate for the heat that comes with Texas summers and there was a little bit of sadness that my Celtics couldn't close out the Lakers last night.  Sigh.

Sorry for skipping out on another podcast this week.  Here's an EP to square things up.  Enjoy.

:The Weeks - Buttons:  Here are a bunch of kids (the band's average age is 18) on Esperanza Plantation who sound like the indie rock-doused-with-pop version of Kings Of Leon.  Now, if that's a sentence I never imagined myself saying then I don't know what is.  I mean, who knew anyone could actually take one of those lovely little Southern drawls and not place it over a bunch of garage rock noise?  Anyhow, Comeback Cadillac is out July 8.

:Cannonball Jane - The Secret Handshake:  This woman makes some of the more weird-but-interesting songs.  For instance, this gem, which glides along proudly showing off its pop prowess until, seemingly out of nowhere, the bottom drops out and it turns into what can only be described as Go! Team-esque hip hop.  As I said, it's weird, but it keeps you guessing and provides spurts of reason to shake those hips.  It could certainly be worse.  The Knees Up EP is conveniently available everywhere.

:Dream Bitches - Me And The Major:  I keep playing this Belle And Sebastian cover on repeat, but I have to say that I'm not exactly sure why I keep coming back to it so much.  Everything about the act's 90s indie rock throwback sound creeps along at the most laziest of paces and the lyrics, while full of humorous one-liners, aren't exactly anything worth telling your neighbors about.  Still, it's in my head and the more it's there the more I like it.  Let me know if the same thing happens to you.  Coke-And-Spiriters is out now.

:Joan As Police Woman - To Be Loved:  I love this song.  It makes me imagine people holding each other close and slowly dancing around in one of those magical moments that have populated romantic movies and high school proms for years.  Sure, some of you heartless bastards will inevitably scoff at such imagery, but just go ahead and try to imagine anything different.  To Survive is awaiting you on store shelves.

:Windmill - Tokyo Moon:  This gem is sort of in the same boat as the Dream Bitches one in that the more I hear it the more I like it.  After all, as the press release that accompanied the album said that the vocals sound like "Neil Young on a helium comedown," and that's just not something you love immediately.  The music, however, will get you the first listen and every single one after that, as it is lush and beautiful.  Puddle City Racing Lights will be released on July 15.
