If any of you have a five spot to spare then I very much recommend that you use it to pick up the Walkmen's new album over at Amie Street.  Not only will you get a good record (one that I've already hyped) early and cheap, but every single cent of what you pay will go directly to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.  That's damn good stuff.  Alright, let's talk the Octopus Project.  I know I generally do the bulk of my local artist ramblings over at Austin Sound, but with this week ramping up from lazy to hectic in just an afternoon I've been utilizing the crafty jams that make up the band's most recent 7" (thanks to Covert Curiosity for pointing this little gem out) to help me keep my head on somewhat straight.  Enjoy.

:The Octopus Project - Wet Gold:  Before you download or stream this I want you to know that it would be a very good idea to go ahead and grab a good pair of headphones.  Why?  Because it isn't necessarily a sprawling, room filling effort as much as it is an intimate listen that features a soothing arrangement and some very nice vocal work.  It's meant to swirl around in your head, so enclose your ears, block out everything else and give this the attention it deserves.

On the other side of the 7" that is the focus of this ramble today is a song called Moon Boil.  It's not near as calm as Wet Gold, but the fan made video is cool, and I think you should check it out.
