I forgot to mention this gem of
information yesterday, but just so you know the Secret Machines are all set
to blow minds at Stubb's this weekend. For me, they're one of those
bands that has played a ton of shows that always seem to be at a terrible
time or too far away of a location, so I'm literally beyond excited that
things are finally going to work out in my favor. Here's hoping the
new material sounds awesome. Speaking of things not old, today I have
the first track to be released off of the upcoming Kings Of Leon album,
Only By The Night. The song was put up over at Spin's website as a
free download, so I figured I might as well share it too. Be warned,
it's a lot different than what you're probably expecting. Enjoy.

Of Leon - Crawl:
Well, it's official. Kings Of Leon are no longer
crafting any sloppy, southern-style garage rock. At
all. Instead they seem to be switching gears in order
to accomplish a sound that is what can only be described as
a semi-progressive. Sound weird? It is, but once
you listen and see how well it works I think you'll quickly
come to grips with the fact that they're talented enough to
do as they please. I sort of hope all of the new album
is like this.
Just in case
you don't remember how southern these guys use to be, I dug
up an old live video of them playing Molly Chambers
at a festival. It's sort of amazing how different
it sounds compared to now.
