Over the weekend I noticed that
I had a small handful of hip hop tracks that I felt were worth sharing, so I
decided to package them together in the form of a mini EP. Enjoy.
:Doomtree
- Game Over:
A couple of years ago an artist by the name of POS dominated
my life for quite a few months with what was his sophomore
effort. Now, he's back. Sort of. Doomtree
is the collective (they've all known each other since junior
high) that he belongs to, and they've finally taken a moment
to put together a self titled debut that holds a whopping 21
tracks. Expect a lot of crafty lyrics and plenty of
aggression when it hits store shelves tomorrow.
:GZA
- Alphabets:
Unlike POS, this guy long left his collective in favor of
solo efforts, and now after four full lengths he's readied a
new one that carries the very simple titled of Pro Tools.
To be honest, in previous years I've never really paid much
attention to anyone out of the Wu Tang Clan, but with my
recent fascination with the RZA as Bobby Digital I can
easily say that the GZA's upcoming album is one that I'm
excited for. Babygrande will be releasing the album on
August 19.
:Madvillian
- Boulder Houlder:
It seems like an eternity ago that MF Doom and Madlib paired
up to make Madvillainy, so it comes as a relief that
their label, Stones Throw, has put together the ultimate
package to help pass the time until the duo readies a
sophomore effort. I won't lay out all the snazzy
details (you can see them yourself
here), but I will say that if I had $125
to spare I would totally buy one and then treasure it like
there's no tomorrow. That's how cool it looks.
