One of the stranger things that happens with people trying to get in contact with me about reviewing their music is when they send an email requesting an address, and then never bother to send me anything.  Now, this "touch base and then whatever" approach is usually only taken once before the act either changes their mind or falls off the Earth, but today I actually have the only artist to go about doing it to me twice: Ra Ra Riot.  Fortunately, they now have the professional folks over at Barsuk to handle this kind of stuff, which is a very good thing since they have a new record due out on August 19 called The Rhumb Line.  I won't be holding my breath while I wait for those crazy kids to send me a copy and/or an invite to their show at Stubb's in October.  Enjoy.

:Ra Ra Riot - Dying Is Fine:  I know I billed this song as new, but technically it is an older track.  This is just a different take on it that replaces some of the warmth and subtle details of the original with beefed up production levels and a slightly different arrangement.  Does that make it worse?  No, but that probably comes from the fact that the previous version was sort of in need of a good all around boost.  Consider this one a gem.

Has this not been an awesome week for videos?  I mean, I'm usually forced to share at least one poorly recorded and edited live cut, but not lately!  Anyhow, here's the aforementioned older version of Dying Is Fine.
