To be honest, the only time I've ever thought about What Made Milwaukee Famous was when frontman Michael Kingcaid joined a local act called the Lemurs onstage at Stubb's one night.  That's it.  Or, at least that's how it was until yesterday when I received an email with a single and some details on the release of their upcoming sophomore effort, What Doesn't Kill Us.  Not only was I immediately impressed with the song, but also the fact that they were able to recruit Chris Michaels (Sparklehorse) to come in and produce the record.  In any case, the band will be hitting the road from February through the beginning of April, and the new album will be in stores March 4 via Barsuk.  I recommend that you get excited if you aren't already.  Enjoy.

:What Made Milwaukee Famous - Resistance St:  It won't take you long to see why this gem was so quick to impress.  The arrangement is heavy, but not to the point where it plods or gets bogged down.  Nope, the band would much prefer that it constantly swirls and comes at you from so many different directions that it almost overwhelms.  This is a good thing, and if you have a nice pair of headphones on you'll really be in for a treat when you notice that beneath the stellar music and fuzzy vocals is some great songwriting.  Listen to this repeatedly.

I wish more bands would take the time to make videos like this one, which was done for Selling Yourself Short.  I mean, I appreciate crazy images/colors mashed together and live shots of the artists performing as much as anyone, but a little story and a dash of humor can sometimes go a long ways.
