Just so you know, another one
of my local quips is up and ready for you to read over at Austin Sound.
This time around it's about a pop group called the Normans. See it out
here. Alright, since it's Friday allow me to give you a little
something worthy of pouring over this weekend. It's a track from the
upcoming White Hinterland record, Phylactery Factory, which is 22
year old Casey Dienel's first using the aforementioned moniker. I think it's a
must-hear for anyone that appreciates Regina Spektor or Laura Gibson, but
even those of you who don't normally care much for songbirds might find
something to adore in Casey's crafty sound. Expect to see it on store
shelves by way of Dead Oceans on March 4. Enjoy.

Hinterland - Dreaming Of The Plum Trees:
As should be expected, Casey sounds impeccable here. I
would even be willing to go as far as to say that she is
what holds this song together, but the songwriting and jazz
oriented music that's beneath her both play an even role and
are just as stellar. Trust me when I say that this is
truly an all around great listen that is as engaging as it
is carefree, so be fully prepared to have it lodged in your
head for awhile.
First of all,
this video is strange. It worked for me once, but when
I went to watch it a second time it took an eternity to load
up. I don't know what the deal is, so if you actually
get to see it then hopefully you'll like it. The song
is called Hometown Hooray, and it features Laura
Gibson doing some backup vocal work.
