Let's talk about the Ohio-based act know as Times New Viking.  I repeatedly saw their name while browsing around the net yesterday, and after a little more searching I noticed that their upcoming debut for Matador is one that a whole lot of people (including myself, now) are anxious to get their hands on.  I'm not entirely sure that the band is going to be for everyone, as they have a sound that can only be described as wickedly fuzzed-out lo-fi, but those of you who can get past that will find a lot of heart and some crafty pop songs.  Currently, Rip It Off is set to hit store shelves on January 22, so if you like what you hear I would make a note to run out and pick it up.  You won't be disappointed with what you get.  Enjoy.

:Times New Viking - Drop-Out:  The one thing that I love most about this song is how worn it feels.  As if its just been making its way to one appreciative listener after another by way of whatever format it just so happened to be captured on when whoever had it last felt the need to share it.  I'm not sure I know many other artists that can pull off such a sound.

There were a couple of other songs from the new album that I could have shared, but I wanted you to see some live footage of them performing a song called Thing With A Hook.  This way we'll now be on the same page about needing to see them live as soon as possible.
