With SXSW looming just around
the corner I, like anyone else who will be attending, have already begun to
get rather excited. It's honestly the best time of the entire year, as
you get to meet people in the industry and you get to see more sets of music
than you can imagine from artists you know and, sometimes more importantly,
those you don't. For instance, last year in my quest to see the
Pipettes and Cursive I happened across Tokyo Police Club. At the time
I didn't really know anything about them, but they impressed that night and
it's been neat to see them get a lot of press in anticipation of their first
full length for Saddle Creek, which will be out in April and is titled
Elephant Shell. It should be fun to see them this year as a fan
and not just a random spectator. Enjoy.

Police Club - In A Cave:
A song like this is a great way to end the week. It's
a tad under three minutes, catchy as hell and crafty enough
with its playful guitar riffs and hand claps to warrant as
many listens as you're willing to give it. Don't be
surprised if you spend the rest of the day and/or weekend
happily bouncing around and singing-a-long with this gem.
There's not
much better than a good band playing in a cold field all by
their lonesome. Or, at least that's what I've been
lead to believe by this video that was made for Cheer It
On. It'll probably convince you into thinking the
same way.
