Well, I
believe it's time that we moved on from yesteryear
and got back on track with what's worth listening to
theses days. Here's an EP. Enjoy.
:The
Hands - Nothing:
I never thought that I would ever favorably compare someone
to the Rolling Stones (an act I could live without) and
actually like their music, but that's the precisely the case
here with this Seattle-based band. They're new self
titled full length just hit store shelves last week via
Selector Sound, so if you want a little raucous rock music
to help pass the time I'd recommend it.
:Now
Now Every Child - Not One, But Two:
It's been awhile since anyone from Afternoon Records has
graced an EP, but with this act I'd say the label is making
a strong comeback. This song, which is all kinds of
post-rock goodness, is actually from three of the planned
releases set for later this year. The first two will
be EPs and then the last will be a full length. Expect
them all to be worth listening to.
:The
Raveonettes - Black/White:
If you downloaded the podcast this weekend then you may
remember me mentioning the Blakes involvement with Sound Of
Color, which is a project where artists are given a color
and then asked to write a song about it. I think what
they're doing is really neat, so check out what the
Raveonettes did, and then jump
here to see who else was
participated and the videos that were made for the tunes.
:Atlas
Sound - River Card:
In the month or so that I've been trying to get around to
this record I'm sure the majority of you became well aware
of it and the fact that it's the solo project of
Deerhunter's Bradford Cox, so I won't bother with a ton of
details. However, I would like to point out that from
what I've heard it sounds much softer and a bit more
accessible. Is the whole disc like this?
:The
Diggs - Careen:
To be honest, I only vaguely remember this band's last
effort, Commute, so I can't say that I was anxiously
awaiting new material. However, the songs that have
leaked so far have really been a pleasant surprise, and I
think that their upcoming full length, ctrl-alt-del,
is going to be something that gets a lot of people talking.
Watch out for it in March on Sugarspun Records.
