If your weekend plans are bare
I advise jumping over to Light In The Attic Records and checking out their
vintagecollections.
There are some real gems that await you on the release pages, so be prepared
to open up your wallet once they grace your ears. Alright, since I've
shared a bit of information with you I would like someone out there to let
me know exactly why no one bothered to tell me that Cloud Cult was working
on a new album!? I mean, that's the kind of stuff I should be filled
in on, especially since I was under the impression that the band would be
taking some time off after last year's The Meaning Of 8. At any
rate, I suppose it's at least good to know that I'll have new music from
them later this year on Feel Good Ghosts (Tea-Partying Through Tornadoes).
Enjoy.

Cult - When Water Comes To Life:
Not only was I wrong about the break I thought they would
take, but I was also way off the mark in regards to my
thinking that their last effort was as expansive as their
sound was going to get, as it actually managed to get bigger
and more beautiful. I love how the arrangement kicks
off with an almost movie score-esque flutter and then
dissipates into a culmination of percussion and tense guitar
work. And Craig Minowa? Yeah, he sounds great
and his songwriting is as good as ever.
I'm feeling as
if I've talked enough about The Meaning Of 8, so with
the video portion of this post I'm going to go back to
Happy Hippopotamus and my favorite track from it,
Transistor Radio. Watch and love.
