Does
this week feel kind of like it's just creeping along
for anyone else? It really seems as if it
should be Friday already. In any case, I have
an EP. Enjoy.
:Sisters
- Gone Heal Everyone:
"There's a party in my brain and it won't end." I
realize that lyric is probably telling enough, but just for
extra emphasis I'll go ahead and point out that this gem and
its garage rock, retro-enthused sound is an absolute blast.
I'm actually unsure if the trio have an official release, as
this song seems to be from a SXSW sampler, but I would at
least recommend going ahead and taking a seat on the
bandwagon.
:Freddie
Stevenson - Easy Now:
"JK Rowling has promised me the Earth/And all that's in it
for all it's worth/I ask only for a cut of her publishing."
I have no idea why the lady who wrote all of those boy-magic
book is the semi-subject of this acoustic-heavy jam, but it
works and I suppose that's all that matters. Juicy
Musical Creations will release the Scarlett Johansson/Tom
Hanks/Javier Bardem supported All My Strange Companions
on April 15.
:Winter's
Fall - Blame:
As impressed as I am with this project's sound and
songwriting I have to say that I'm more interested with why
the masses aren't simply raving about Peter Stanley and
Co.'s Muddy & White EP. I mean, this stuff is
incredible! Hell, I would even say it's one of the
better EPs that I've come across here in the first part of
the year. Perhaps people will come around whenever
their upcoming full length is released?
:Haunting
Oboe Music - Mano The Soldier Boy:
It's not too often that I branch out of Austin Sound
to talk about a local band, but these guys have such an
interesting project that I couldn't pass up giving them a
little extra love. They'll be releasing an EP for
every month this year, and this is a song from the first
one, January. It's moody and intricate, so make
sure you grab a good pair of headphones when you give it a
listen.
:Senyru
- Plastic Sugary:
For some reason this band's press release was heavy on
placing them in the indie pop genre, but to me that seems
all wrong. No, this track is more like a wondrous
throwback to all the best parts of mid-90s indie rock, and
that's what they should be touting. Everyone's pop
these days. Anyhow, Oh, My Darling Quarantine
is currently available to please your ears.
