Oh No!
19-0 didn't happen! Not to take anything away
from the Giants' victory, but I think the pressure
of perfection may have been too much because the
Patriots played their most conservative and tight
game of the entire season. It was weird to see
them not confident. In any case, I hope you
guys are ready for an entire offseason of analysts
talking about how Eli Manning will now become the
greatest quarterback of all time. Yeah!
Here's an EP. Enjoy.
:Teenage
Prayers - I'll Never Let You Go:
What better way to kick off this post-Super Bowl EP with a
song from a band that not only resides in New York, but has
also been praised by the Boston Globe for having a frontman
that they say is a mix of James Brown and Isaac Brock.
Zing! Seriously though, this is a great tune that will
surely provide a little perk in your Monday. Keep an
eye out for the band's sophomore effort, Everyone Thinks
You're The Best.
:The
Dodos - Jody:
This duo is good. So good in fact that I'm more than a
little baffled as to how I didn't really know anything about
them until this past weekend. How come no one bothered
to clue me in!? Anyhow, on March 18 Frenchkiss Records
will put out their new album, Visitors. I fully
expect it to be packed with all kinds of crazy folk tunes.
:Monster
Bobby - Untitled:
For those of you who don't know, this is the solo project of
the guy who helped assemble the Pipettes. He has a new
album titled Forty Winks that features 40 different
one minute long songs, and he would like a little help in
wrapping it up. All you have to do is come up with a
snazzy title to this electro-pop number and send it to him.
Give it a shot!
:Dawn
Landes - Bodyguard:
I know everyone really liked Dawn's cover of Young Folks
that was released late last year, but I didn't see what the
big deal was at all. However, this song has me feeling
all warm and fuzzy, as Dawn's vocals are great and the
songwriting is equally impressive. Count me as excited
to hear her upcoming full length, Fireproof, which is
out on March 4 via Cooking Vinyl.
:Lemuria
- Pants:
I actually wrote about this trio way back when I first
started the site. At that point, which was mid-2006,
they had some good material, but no label or official
release to speak of. Now, they're all signed up to
Asian Man Records and they have a full length titled Get
Better coming out on April 1. Make a note to pick
it up if you like your indie pop to have a dash or two of
punk.
