Quick question!  Have you guys had any weird glitches while trying to stream the songs?  At work yesterday I noticed that some of them would end abruptly, but when I checked (by this I mean downloaded) all the files at home they were just fine.  Bizarre, right?  Please let me know if you've gotten anything that's only half cooked.

OK, here's the next part of my list.  Enjoy.

#20)  Land Of Talk - Some Are Lakes

Where their absolutely fantastic debut was all about celebrating mid-90s indie rock (ie Sleater Kinney), their sophomore effort (and first for the always great Saddle Creek Records) seemed to feature them going in a different direction.  I still haven't figured out if I know exactly where they might be heading, but I can say that I'm willing and ready to tag along.

#19) The Black Angels - Directions To See A Ghost

Given that Passover essentially made them one of the "it" acts, I was mostly anticipating an album that would be easy on the ears and fun for all entry level pysch-rock lovers.  This is neither of those.  In fact, unless you're willing and ready to lose yourself in the thick sound being pushed out by these people then I wouldn't even bother seeking it out.  Total music nerds only!

#18)  Ponytail - Ice Cream Spiritual

What I love most about this effort is probably what many of you will like least about it - the whole thing plays like one huge song.  Strange, I know, but with every play-through that I get lost in I notice different things that I hadn't heard before and, most importantly, its high level of chaotic energy never seems to get tiresome.

#17)  Throw Me The Statue - Moonbeams

To be honest, this wasn't a record that I was initially very impressed with.  But, after seeing the band put on a couple of stellar shows in the last few months, I've quickly come around to see that it's a very smart effort with a slew of catchy songs.  If you don't immediately fall in love with it then I advise that you make sure to listen to it again and/or see them play.  You won't regret it!

#16)  Secret Machines - Self Titled

I wouldn't necessarily call this a return to form (after all, I do think that Ten Silver Drops is a good album) for the band, but this does sound a lot like the Secret Machines that impressed with the thunderous Now Here Is Nowhere all those years ago.  My guess is that some of the reclaimed spunk comes from them being on their own label and not a major.
