There were no comments
yesterday so I'm going to assume that you're all with me and not appalled to
the point of silence.
Here's part two. Enjoy.

New Viking - Drop Out:
While I find their album to be overly loud and cluttered at
times, I really love their fuzzed-out style when it's
working like it is in here, where it sounds like a long lost
pop gem that's been dubbed off a destroyed cassette tape.
I wonder if they'll always record like this?

Day Sets Fire - Brainless:
Definitely one of my guilty pleasure songs of the year.
I love the repeated use of the line "I don't want to be
brainless" and the brass is about as playful as anything I
heard all of 2008. Put this on when you're feeling a
bit under the weather, as it will have you bouncing around
in no time.

Campesinos - Miserabilia:
Some of you will probably feel that there are better songs
on the first release (this is from the second) that they had
this year, and while I admit that may be true, I've been
infatuated with this number for weeks. Loud,
infectious and upbeat - it's the perfect track to get your
day going.

Barkley - Run:
I will confess that I never even bothered to seek out this
act's latest album. Nope, I heard this song and
decided that there's no way that anything else on their
sophomore effort could match it. Maybe that isn't
right, but I'm not too concerned as long as I can keep on
rocking this funky tune.

Proper - Lock And Key:
My wife absolutely loves this song. Anytime it comes
on randomly at home or in the car (I make her a lot of mix
CDs) she instantly begins dancing around and singing.
At first, I thought it was excessive, but over time this
slick effort has come to have the same effect on me.
Be warned!

:Amplive
- Video Tapez (Featuring Del The Funky Homosapien):
I'm not much of a follower of Radiohead, so when I first
heard of Amplive's remix project I didn't pay much
attention. Then I saw that Del was involved and I had
to hear it. Clearly, it didn't disappoint. You
will want to turn this up as loud as possible.

Scary And The Shredding Tears - Imitation Of The Sky:
For a while now I've really been having a great time with
this band's seemingly demented take on the Beatles, and I
don't think that it will ever get old. Feel free to
just let go when you hit play.

Chen - Cable TV:
I know that I just posted this song up recently, but I
haven't been able to take it off of repeat. Partly
because I've been working so much and the idea of just
abandoning all responsibility and going on vacation sounds
awesome, but mostly because it's fun sound just fills the
room so nicely.

:Shearwater
- Rooks:
Undoubtedly one of the more beautiful songs that I had the
pleasure of hearing in all of 2008 - it really moves like
nothing else. Probably would have been higher on this
list if it didn't work so much better (if you can imagine
that) in the context of the album.

Wasif - Oceanic:
"Well I'm love sick/It's panoramic" I adore this song.
It sounds like improvised indie rock that's been dipped in
the blues. It also makes me realize that I should have
paid more attention to this act. Anyone out there care
to send me the LP that this gem comes from?
