Holy Crap! Even though
we've been planning it for a while I'm having a hard time believing that the
wife and I are actually leaving for the west coast tomorrow. Somebody
ease my mind and remind me that it will be awesome, so I should quit
worrying about nothing. Who cares if the mail is taken care of!?
Here's the music. Enjoy.

Of Talk - Some Are Lakes:
If someone asked me to make a list of five records that I
can't wait to hear I would be very tempted to place
Elizabeth Powell and Co.'s debut for Saddle Creek in the top
spot. I absolutely adore everything that they do (Applause
Cheer Boo Hiss still gets regular listens), and this
moody new single has me chomping at the bit to get my hands
on the album of the same name. It'll be out October 7.
:Caw!
Caw! - Organisms:
I honestly think that for every slick indie pop tune in the
world there's one (hell, maybe two) like this gem that's raw
and and not particularly recorded well. It doesn't
make either style better or worse than the other, but I do
believe it forces you to realize how versatile pop music can
be. Anyhow, on September 23 these guys and their fuzzy
ways will be releasing an EP titled Wait Outside.
Keep an eye out for it.

Lemonade - Susan's In The Sky:
This act apparently had a single earlier this year that was
loved by KEXP and some other people, so a few of you may
already be familiar with their retro approach to things.
If, like me, you missed the boat then it's no big deal since
all you really need to know is that they're a pretty damn
good quartet from Scotland. Now, get to listening.
The Susan's In The Sky EP will be released next week
via Matinee Recordings.
:Harlan
- Black Globe:
Here's a very nice track that, for whatever reason, I've
been saving since June. It's from an unsigned act from
the great Baton Rouge, Louisiana that makes quality lo-fi
numbers that feel rather inspired by country music.
Try not to wait a few months before giving it a listen.
They're sophomore effort is titled Spiderette, and it
is either available now or will be soon.

Of Seven Bells - Conjure:
I know John Michael beat me to the punch when he placed this
song in his column this weekend, but since he didn't mention
that it's Ben Curtis' (formerly of the Secret Machines) new
project I thought I should post it up again. Also, I
haven't been able to get it out of my head. Ghostly
will be releasing the band's debut, Alpinisms, in the
fall. For now, see them on tour with M83.
