To put an end to this week I
have a new single from the Cool Kids, which is partly weird timing since
just last night a good friend of mine was telling me about her affection for
the Cool Kids, and I was explaining my love/hate relationship with the act.
Her sound argument was one of a fascination with 80s-style hip hop, and mine
was one of nothingness except a "some songs work for me and others don't"
excuse. Of course, I have a blog so I'm totally right. What I
would really like to know though is what you guys think about the hip hop
duo. Do you share the same level of appreciation as Kendra? Or
do you waiver around like me? I need to know! At any rate, if
you do anything at least see Green Label Sound for more info on the tune.
Enjoy.
:The
Cool Kids - Delivery Man:
The only thing that keeps me from liking these guys all the
time are the moments that they stray from a more simplistic
approach (88) and add a bunch of various effects (Black
Mags or A Little Bit Cooler) and other oddities.
Here, they keep it in the realm of easily accessible, and I
think that it does well to highlight the humor in their
lyrics and turn the song into an attention grabber for those
that aren't hardcore hip hop fans. All of you should
give this gem a listen, but especially do so if the duo have
yet to impress.
I've repeatedly
heard positive things about the Cool Kids' live show, so to
sort of see it for myself without having to leave the
comfort of my apartment I chose a video of the duo
performing What It Is and Pennies on Kimmel.
I think it looks like a good time, but you should check it
out and decide for yourself.
