Kicking things off this week is
the highly energetic act from the UK known as Los Campesinos. I know
they've gotten plenty of buzz from all over, but on my end I've been
completely head over heels in love with the group since they entertained the
hell out of me back at SXSW, and I'm very much anticipating their new record
(which is also their second full length this year) that's due out in
November via the lovely label that is Arts & Crafts. Now, from what I
can tell the song below isn't actually from We Are Beautiful, We Are
Doomed, but it was recorded during the making of Hold On Now,
Youngster. So, I suppose in some way or another it is possible
that it could be a hint of what is to come. Or whatever. In any
case, get ready to move. Enjoy.
:Los
Campesinos - How I Taught Myself To Scream:
In what has seemingly become explicitly their style, this
gem is all at once chaotic, catchy and surprisingly pretty.
I mean, straight from the start the band hits you with some
larger than expected guitars that crunch away like there's
no tomorrow, but then before you know they fade into the
background behind a wall of undeniably awesome pop.
Weird? Yes. Exciting? Definitely.
You won't mind though. Nope, you'll be too busy having
a blast, and that's all that matters.
If you've never
seen the video for You! Me! Dancing! then you really
should make sure that you take a few minutes to watch it and
all of its epic, cartoony goodness.
