You know what I realized this weekend?  I don't at all care about the 2008 Olympics.  I mean, over the years my interest has been waning anyway, but with the recent hoopla involving protests, doping and the aid of technology (those crazy things that Michael Phelps and Co. swim in), I just can't help but feel the whole thing is devoid of anything good.  Anyone else feel the same way?  On a non-sport related note, today is all about the Joy Formidable.  A while back a reader recommended the UK act, but at the time they didn't necessarily have anything to share.  Well, now they do, and here I am rambling it up.  If only everyone else in the blog-o-sphere would do the same, as this trio is rather good and worthy of all kinds of attention.  Enjoy.

:The Joy Formidable - The Greatest Light Is The Greatest Shade:  I really don't understand how this band isn't signed to a large label and talked about all over.  After all, they're essentially a complete package with vocals that are as good as it gets and a big, interesting sound that straddles the fence between guitar-driven rock and shoegaze.  What more could someone want?  Do me a favor and tell your friends and family about this gem.  They need to hear it as well.

Austere seems to be the song that the band is pushing the most, and I can see why  - it's catchy and loud in the most nifty of ways.  Give it a listen while you watch the video.
