You know, I have to pretty much
work all of this weekend, but I'm still really ecstatic that the end of the
week has finally arrived. There's just something about when things
wind down (even if it's just for a single afternoon) that greatly appeals to
me. Although, it's possible that all of this is actually coming from
me being thrilled to be seeing the Secret Machines, but whatever. At
least that other part sounded good, right? Anyhow, today I have a very
interesting artist by the name of Polly Scattergood. The very young
lady (she's only 22) just signed to Mute, who will be putting out her debut
single on 10" in August. The release will be very limited, so if you
like what you hear then I would recommend snatching one up quickly.
Enjoy.

Scattergood - Nitrogen Pink:
"In Polly's world nothing is as it first seems."
Quotes like this that tend to come slapped all over press
releases are generally ignored by yours truly, but this one
is actually accurate. Polly kicks off this gem with a
whole load of simplicity and then proceeds to continuously
kick it up a notch as the song runs its five minute course.
In other words, just as you think you've got it all figured
out she one-ups you. Prepare to be stuck to the edge
of your seat. Also, as has been the case a lot this
week, listen to this with headphones.
Polly had a
couple of interesting videos on Youtube that she made with a
guy named Tom Henry Jones, so that's what I've got for your
eyes. Feel free to save them for when the clock at
work begins to move all too slowly.
