Today I will be attempting to
install a stereo in my car all by my lonesome, so if there is no post
tomorrow then it's probably not terribly wrong to assume that I did
something woefully incorrect and eliminated myself. Let's all pull
together and hope that doesn't happen. Now, onto the Black Angels!
The band's debut, Passover, is still a record that I listen to on a
regular basis, and if I'm honest the upcoming Directions To See A Ghost
is the effort that I've been looking forward to the most all year.
Light In The Attic will be making dreams come true for those of you who are
digitally inclined on April 15, and then for the kids that love physical
items on May 13. I recommend picking up both so that you can rock out
for a month before staring endlessly at the dizzying artwork. Enjoy.
:The
Black Angels - Doves:
I wasn't expecting too much to change, and judging by this
track it would appear that I was mostly right to do so.
The band is still going all out to make sure that when you
hit play you're immediately drawn in by a drone inducing
pace, reverb-heavy vocals and pounding drums. Or, as I
said in the first post ever on SOTO, you can think of it as
the kind of music that makes you want to lay down on the
floor in a hot room and watch the ceiling fan blades go
round and round. This deserves to be heard as loud as
you can crank it, so turn it up and take the afternoon off.
It's pretty
much impossible to see anything worth remembering in this
video for Black Grease, but if you're really bleary
eyed from exhaustion or totally stoned out of your mind
there is a good chance it will seem like the most incredible
thing ever created.
