As expected, Halo 3 is
awesome. I've already put more than my fair share of hours into it and
I've only had it for a very short time. You and I need to play.
I'm sure at some point I tricked you into downloading something that you
disliked enough to warrant a virtual gun blast to my head. Message me
and we'll go about owning each other.
I've got a lot of great shoved in a folder on my desktop right now, so I
figured it was a good time for an EP. Enjoy.
:Half
Japanese - Put Some Sugar On It:
I don't actually know how this ended up in my previously mentioned folder,
but I'm really glad that it did. I think I've listened to it more than
anything else over the last few days. Apparently, it's from a new Kurt
Cobain film titled About A Son, which is based on a bunch of taped
conversations and has a soundtrack comprised of artists that Kurt really
liked. I'd say that's reason enough to check it out, right?
:Sick
Of Sarah - Hello Good Morning:
This gem reminds me a lot of the pop rock that was all the rage in the mid
90s. It's fun, catchy and confident, but not so much so that it's
overwhelmingly cheesy or novelty-esque. You're just suppose to listen
and have a good time. The Minneapolis-based group have a new EP titled
Bittersweet, which you can pick up as a 7". Feel free to grab
me one while you're at it.
:His
Name Is Alive - This Is My Confession:
For a slightly quirky take on the sounds of the 70s this sure does a great
job of sticking in your head and demanding repeat listens. I'd like to
say that it's because of Andrea Francesca Morici's vocals, but I think I'm
more entertained by Warn Defever's sweeping arrangement that pretty much
does whatever it pleases. Xmmer is out now on Silver Mountain.
:Lucksmiths
- Once Again:
I don't really know much about this band, but it would appear that they've
been making charming, jangly pop in Australia for quite awhile. Of
course, by quite awhile you should know that I actually mean a decade and a
half. Better late than never, right? Maybe I'll pick up the
album that this is from and catch up, especially since it just so happens to
be a 45 song, double disc compilation that spans the band's career.
:Tiny
Masters Of Today - Hologram World:
Not only has this duo opened for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but they were even
able to get Karen 0 and Nick Zinner to help out in this song. And
they're only kids! Now, I don't mean kids as in about to turn 18 or
something. I actually mean kids. One is 13 and the other is 11.
It's insane. Anyhow, the little ones have a full length titled Bang
Bang Boom Cake that's pretty good. It's currently available for
you to love.
