I'm actually writing this
before I make my way down to Gamestop to get my mitts on Halo 3, so you'll
have to wait until tomorrow to see if it managed to meet my incredibly high
expectations. I'm guessing that it will, but I'm also a little crazy
so who knows. Anyhow, a guy named Even Johansen, who operates under
the moniker of Magnet, has been announced as the opener for the big tour
that the Stars will be undertaking later this fall. I really like this
addition. Even's been someone that I've positively thought of for a
long time, and his show should be rather good considering that he now that
has a full band behind him and a new LP to pull songs from. The
Simple Life is currently out now on Filter US Recordings. Snatch
it and your Stars tickets up ASAP. Enjoy.

- Lonely No More:
Before you even listen to this I can pretty much guarantee
that this bouncy gem will have you singing-a-long in your
car, as you take your daily walk, while you shower, in
between Halo 3 breaks - everywhere. The damn thing is
that amazingly accessible and easy to love. I hold
Even's soft vocals and the arrangement's whimsical nature
entirely responsible. Though, the ever so sappy
songwriting could be the main culprit, especially in the way
that it pulls on your heart strings with lines like:
"I'll toss/I'll turn/I'll ache/And I'll yearn/Until I find
someone/Find someone like you."
Here is Magnet
(back when it was just Even) with Gemma Hayes. I don't
know what song the album is from or anything like that, but
I do know that it's a cover of an old Bob Dylan piece
titled Lay Lady Lay. I find the sound of it to
be pretty nifty, but the video is kind of strange.
