Before I get to Georgie James I want all of you to know that I'm excited beyond all measure that football season has started.  It's easily the best sport around and I can't wait for each and every upcoming day that will be full of pigskin action.  Now, onto the Saddle Creek Records duo that I first mentioned about a month ago.  And yes, you read correctly.  Georgie James is a duo, which is made up of the former drummer of Q And Not You, John Davis, and singer/songwriter Laura Burhenn.  I have no idea why they chose the name that they did, but I do know that their debut, Places, is a great pop album.  It's due out on September 25 (the same day as Halo 3) and I highly recommend picking it up and loving it as much as I am right now.  Enjoy.

:Georgie James - Cake Parade:  This is a great song.  It has a lot of moments that feel very much like the more piano-driven efforts of the Beatles and various other pop bands from that era.  Even Laura, who has a fantastic voice that's on par with other songbirds like Regina Spektor or Feist, sounds as if she was found wandering around in the 60s and then transported to now.  Expect this to leave you wishing all retro pop was this good.

:Georgie James - Need Your Needs:  My opinion on this song hasn't changed a bit in the weeks that have passed since I posted it in one of the EPs.  I still very much think that it's a wonderful piece of vintage pop that makes the word catchy come across like an understatement.  So, download it whether or not you caught it the first time around, it's definitely good enough for multiple listens.
