I have to say, it's been a long while since I've been impressed with anything associated with Ben Affleck.  But last night I saw Gone Baby Gone and it suddenly made we want to write him and ask if it would be possible to put out films at a quicker pace.  The same can also be said for his brother, Casey, who is brilliant in it.  See it as soon as it's released.  On a related note, it's also been awhile since I've been impressed with anything from Hopewell.  Not necessarily because they haven't been good, but simply because they haven't had anything new since their LP in 2005; they kind of slipped my mind.  Now though they have a new disc titled Beautiful Targets, which just hit store shelves via Tee Pee Records, and I'm remembering why I loved them so long ago.  Enjoy.

:Hopewell - All Angels Road:  If there was ever a song that just cries to be played and beloved in the summertime then it would be this quirky pop tune.  The guitars are all over the place and as playful as can be; even Jason Russo feels a little wild and rambunctious when he emphatically cries out lines like: "the future is always out of sight!"  I don't think I could possibly be more ready for the fall weather, but this is making me reminisce about the fun and sun of the summer.

:Hopewell - Tree:  While browsing around I noticed that someone on Amazon called this song a big emo-anthem.  I don't know about the emo-anthem part, but this is epic for the band, and I think it's great.  Jason's voice soars at every turn, and the arrangement is chocked full of so many pretty and elaborate moments that you'll feel the need to turn it up louder as each part grows larger and larger as the runtime ticks down.  No reason you shouldn't love this.
