A couple of weeks back I posted some cover songs that I'm sure some of you either loved or hated.  It's simply the kind of response that is generated when someone decides to re-imagine a piece of work that is highly respected and/or beloved.  With that being said, I'll move onto Annuals and Manchester Orchestra.  The two are about to embark on a 20-date co-headling tour together and because of the venture they've decided to release a 7" that features one covering the other.  I was overly exciting when I first read about this, as I adore Annuals.  But their cover of MO's Where Have You Been? is pretty much void of the raw emotion that makes the original so good.  And MO's cover of Brother?  Well, it's rather good, and that's why you'll find it below.  Enjoy.

:Manchester Orchestra - Brother (Annuals Cover):  First of all, I do not like this more than the original.  However, I do think it's a great cover.  Annuals' version is much more raw and thunderous because of the slow building arrangement and the passionate vocals, whereas MO's effort is slick, calm and collected.  It also retains the wealth of energy and passion of the original, which is what made it standout on Annuals' Be He Me.  To me, this is simply a case of a great song being covered by a band that realizes it, so their take is one that doesn't stray too far into left field.

As previously mentioned, I'm not that thrilled with Annuals version of Where Have You Been?  So, I figured it would be a good idea to let you see what the original is like if you don't already know.  It should help make my point that it's far superior.
