This week has been insanely busy, and I can't wait for Sunday since it will be my first day off in the last few weeks.  I think I'll do nothing but lay on the couch and watch football all day and into the night.  Also, I'll eat a lot.  You should do the same regardless if you've had any time off in lately.

Similar to me, my inbox has been working overtime and because of that it's got more music in it than I know what to do with, so here's an EP.  Enjoy.

:Cass McCombs - That's That:  Cass has apparently been making music for a long while (since age 14), but it wasn't until I received word of his new album, Dropping The Writ, that I found out about him.  His sound is very much vintage pop that's warm and intimate, especially in the way that each part, from Cass to the music, seems as if it was recorded as soft as possible.  I would expect to see a lot more about this guy in the future.

:West Indian Girl - To Die In LA:  I don't really know much about this band outside of that they have a new album titled 4th And Wall and that one of the members is absolutely beautiful.  As for this song, it's an upbeat mix of cheerful hand claps, soaring synths, dance-worthy drumming, catchy guitar riffs, and inspired songwriting.  In other words, it's rather good.  I even think that it might possibly be one of the more well crafted tunes of 2007.

:Aaron Stout - The Coronation:  I think there needs to be more psychedelic folk music, and this song is the reason why.  I love how the slightly weird beat pounds away and collides with the flowing guitars and other sweeping sounds.  Not only does it work well in creating some contrast to Aaron's soft vocal style, but it's rather interesting, which is something that doesn't happen all the time with folk music.  Queens Live In Caskets is the name of Aarron's debut.

:The Ginger Envelope - Fail Safe:  This really isn't a song that is going to necessarily jump out and instantly amaze you, but once you spend a little time with I think you'll see how good it is.  Patrick Carey has a nice and deep rustic voice, and the one part moody, one part twangy arrangement beneath him is crisp and a comfy fit.  Check out their debut, Edible Orchids, if you want to get a jump start on good music for the fall.

:Black Kids - I'm Not Going To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You:  Everyone from Pitchfork to blogs all over the globe have been hyping this band like there's no tomorrow.  Is it well deserved attention?  Most definitely.  I haven't been able to stop listening to this gem and its fuzzed out sound, which is stacked with more sing-a-long moments than you can possibly fathom.  Although, I can't say I'm willing to join in on anointing them as the next Go! Team.
