Before I get to the focus of
today's ramble I want to say that Al Gore's presentation last night was very
nicely done. It's obvious that he is very passionate about trying to
get people to see that our planet is having a variety of issues that
shouldn't be ignored. Coincidently, Cheyenne and myself are also
passionate. Granted, it's not environment related, but making sure
that quality sounds fill your ears counts for something, right?
Anyhow, if you remember I mentioned the somehow unsigned Brooklyn-based
quartet awhile back. At that point it was the title track of their new
album, the Whale, but today it's a different gem from the disc.
I recommend piling on the bandwagon now before everyone else does when the
LP drops on December 11. Enjoy.

- Painting Horses:
These guys are great at putting a sizable amount of relaxed
fun and easy accessibility in all that they do, and this
song is a great example of that. The arrangement is
full of playful, bouncy moments that sweep back and forth in
ways that make you want to head outside, kick your feet up
and take a breather. Even the vocals feel like they
should be experienced as you watch the rest of the world
around you get caught up in the busyness of life. So,
grab the headphones and take it easy with their help.

- The Whale:
I really don't have much else to say about this song that I
haven't already. But, I've been listening to it a lot
since I posted it, so I really don't mind re-emphasizing
that it is a great late summer anthem for those of you who
aren't yet ready for the inevitable chaos that comes with
the holiday season. Though, now that I think about it
this seems like a good reason to go ahead and release the
album. December's all wrong, especially for my needs.
