So, tonight I'm going to go see Al Gore at the Frank Erwin Center, where he will be doing his Inconvenient Truth presentation.  I'm curious to see if it's full of updated information or if it's a word for word copy of the documentary.  Do any of you know?

Anyway, since October features a day in which everyone covers up in costumes I figured it would be a good idea to start the month off with a few cover songs by way of a mini EP.  Enjoy.

:Cassettes Won't Listen - Cut Your Hair (Pavement Cover):  As if the original wasn't brilliant enough, CWL takes it, makes it their own, and somehow manages to make it more lovable.  Though, at this point I can't say that I've come to expect anything less.  I mean, are they even capable of doing something that won't stick in your head forever?  I doubt it.  Whenever their album, Small-Time Machine, is actually released it's clearly going to blow people's minds.

:Jose Gonzalez - Teardrop (Massive Attack Cover):  At this moment this is the only track that I've heard off of Jose's new album, In Our Nature, but I think it's probably one of the most enthralling songs I've heard lately, so my guess is that he avoided the sophomore slump that seemed inevitable based on the brilliance that was his debut, Veneer.  Now I just need to figure our whether it's his soft vocals or penchant for moody acoustic guitar work that keeps me coming back.  Because, you know, it can't be both.  Or something.

:Division Day - Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode Cover):  This song is part of the band's effort to drum up some attention for the re-release of Beartrap Island.  They've been releasing a variety cover songs and remixes every week.  I actually haven't bothered with the rest, but since this is a song that so many people tend to cover I'm always a little interested to see what they do with it.  DD's take isn't necessarily amazingly different, but I do find it to be a little more mellow and intimate than the original.
