I love it when a good band
signs up with an even better label. Not only does it mean positive things
for all those involved, but it also gets people so excited that the news
of the signing spreads like crazy. The latter is particularly nice, as
it sometimes serves as a nifty way of finding out about artists that have
previously alluded me. For example, Bodies Of Water. I had
absolutely no idea that they existed until they decided to join the stellar
roster of Secretly Canadian. Now, I can't quit listening to them. If you're in the same
dark corner that
I was in on Friday then I think it's safe to say that your Monday just got a
whole lot better. Expect to see the re-release of Ears Will Pop And
Eyes Will Blink on December 4. Enjoy.

Of Water - I Guess I'll Forget The Sound, I Guess, I Guess:
The epic feel of the choir-esque vocals and the vintage
arrangement here are stunning in ways that I think can only
be fully understood if you close your eyes and completely
imagine yourself in a field on a nice day as the wind comes
and goes and the sun shines down on you. In other
words, this is refreshing, beautiful and makes for the kind
of experience that you want to have repeatedly.
:Bodies
Of Water - Doves Circle The Sky:
Words like epic
and refreshing still apply here, but this time around it's
also a good idea to throw tense into the description,
especially in the later parts of the song that feature a
relentless onslaught on sounds. It's honestly pretty
neat how the change in pace and atmosphere of the music
makes the choir-esque vocals come off completely different.
You really need to hear this.
