Do you know what I really
appreciate? The month of October. Unfortunately, I appear to
have completely missed it this year because today I looked at the calendar
and noticed that it was already November. It also came to my attention
that Annuals seem to really be gearing up for a late 2007 push.
They're out touring with Manchester Orchestra, who they're also putting out
a split 7" with as well, and now they've announced an EP titled Frelen
Mas, which is essentially Be He Me B-Sides. Of course, as
if all of that wasn't enough there is also a contest for those who like to
mash songs together. It kind of carries the lame title of Mannuals,
but it's still a neat idea all the same. As I said, it's a busy time for
the band and their fans. Enjoy.

Lyrically, there isn't much going on here outside of the
title being repeated a few zillion time. For most, I
think this would probably come off as annoying, but Annuals
are so good at creating the kind of fascinating arrangements
that suck you in and steal all of your attention that it
takes roughly a dozen listens before you even begin to
realize that there are no real words to have stuck in your
head, just a catchy mix of horns and thunderous drums.
More artists should take the time to jam this well.
I actually
meant to post this up as the video of the week when it first
came out, but it slipped my mind until now. The theme
is kind of quirky, but it works well in matching up with the
whimsical nature of the song. Plus, who doesn't like a
slightly bizarre game of Croquet?
